Entries and Competitors
Entry procedure
Fill in a form at the registration table.
You will be given a claim ticket with a unique ID, and a sticker will be placed on the underside of your model identifying your ownership.
Your models will then be placed in the display cases with a small ID card. Card will not be viewed and entries will be identified only by number during judging and voting.
You will be given a time and date to collect your models after voting is complete. Your claim ticket is required to prove ownership.
Short listed winners will be notified at reclamation to be present at the awards ceremony. If short listed, you must be present to be eligible to win.

Notes on Category Rules
The Crystal Brush 2017 competition includes eight regular categories and a category for entrants 14 or younger.
Display plinths are not counted as part of the base size or height restriction. However, they will not be considered in onsite judging, on either technical or artistic grounds, and will neither add to nor detract from the entry’s score. A plinth will not necessarily appear in photographs for online voting. All modeled and painted work atop a plinth or standard gaming base will be included in the height allowance and judged as part of the entry. (Example: a figure standing on a flight of stairs, which is mounted on a 50mm round plinth. The figure and the stairs will be measured and judged, but not the plinth.)
All units not mounted on a single display base must be presented on a movement tray. This is to facilitate handling and photography, and to ensure the group is arranged as the entrant intends. Movement trays are not required to be painted or have groundwork. They will not be considered in onsite judging, and will neither add to nor detract from the entry’s score.
It is recommended that loose models on a plinth or movement tray be secured with putty, magnets, or other means of attachment. Please notify staff of any models which require special handling during registration.
The number of photographs shown for each entry during online voting will depend on its category. Single Figure, Bust, and Young Talent will be represented by three photos—front, back, and an angle or detail shot. Unit, Vehicle/Monster, and Large Scale will be represented by three or four photos, according to size, complexity, and the discretion of the judges. Dioramas will be represented by four or five photos, according to size, complexity, and the discretion of the judges. Display plinths and any portion of the entry which falls outside of size restrictions will not be represented in detail in the photography.
Please note: the head judge will have final say on what models are suitable for submission and category placement of submitted models. CMoN, Inc. reserves the right to refuse any entry upon any grounds, at its discretion.

Judging
a) Judging is based on a combination of methods, which reflects both a traditional model painting competition, as well as the community spirit of CoolMiniOrNot. 50% of the score shall be determined on site by a panel of judges selected by CMoN, Inc. and AdeptiCon. 50% of the score shall be determined by popular vote on CoolMiniOrNot.com.
b) If the volume of entries is high, judges may choose to make a first cut to narrow the field. First cut selections will be photographed and posted for online voting.
c) Judges will make the final determination on entries to be included in the first cut by 3 p.m., Saturday, April 2.
d) In the unlikely event of a tie, judges shall have the power to break the tie.
e) In the event of suspected vote fraud, CMoN, Inc. shall have the power to disqualify votes or entries.
f) All decisions are final.
g) Judging criteria
Criteria are provided so that judges can compare entries uniformly and fairly, regardless of style or genre, and so that entrants will have specific information as to what judges are looking for. The complete judging criteria and procedure overview is available on the Crystal Brush website.
h) Sponsor categories will be judged by individual sponsors or their designated representatives. Sponsors will determine their own judging criteria, which may or may not include the results of internet voting.

Each entrant is only eligible for one top 3 position, i.e. it is not possible to win any combination of the first, second and third prizes, the next runner-up will be awarded instead.
c) For secondary categories created by Crystal Brush sponsors, any additional prize support will be arranged for by the individual sponsors.
d) In the event of any dispute, the sum total liability of CMoN, Inc. to any entrant shall be whatever the entrant paid to CMoN, Inc. directly related to entry in the Crystal Brush 2016 competition, i.e. $0. All rules subject to change without notice.
